Managing Director (f/m/x)

Job description

Our client is one of the leading online marketplaces in Germany and on the mission to become one of the most trusted & innovative platforms.  The open position as Managing Director (f/m/x) involves the co-management of the company by leading the strategy process and overseeing daily operations. In addition, the role will involve positioning the company as a state-of-the-art horizontal marketplace. Implementation & conceptualizing of innovations to increase trust, delivery and subscriptions will be one of the key challenges to achieving growth.

 

Co-Management of the company including communication to relevant stakeholders

  • Leading the strategy process
  • Overseeing daily operations of Product, Development, Content, both in Germany & at nearshore operations (up to 24 employees) as well as managing freelancers 
  • Establishing policies that promote company culture and vision together with the management team, focusing on an agile mindset, trust, openness, respect, transparency & customer orientation
  • Leading employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication
  • Managing Growth:
    • Design, implement, organize and manage business/expansion
    • Strategies, plans and procedure

Product & Business Development

  • Development of the market position as modern horizontal marketplace for small to medium classifieds
  • Understanding of state-of-the-art online marketplaces and deriving strategic solutions such as chatbots, semantic, AI based text generation
  • Implementation of new innovations to increase trust and establish new revenue streams in all relevant marketplace categories
  • Relationship management with key partners and other unit colleagues of the group
  • Full responsibility for the projects and their success

Requirements

  • Proven track record in a relevant leadership role with a focus on product and business development from marketplaces, e-commerce or similar branches
  • Relevant work experience in technical & product solution design in combination with business responsibility in an agile environment
  • Experience with classified online marketplaces of strong advantage
  • Experience with the vertical Dating/Adult of strong advantage
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
  • Lean approach: “build, measure, learn” to validate hypothesizes is essential
  • Ability to implement company structure and to lead the company
  • University degree in the field of economics and/or technology is an advantage
  • Certification as Scrum Product Owner and five years’ work experience as an agile product leader is a strong advantage
